The focus on Jewish cultures and experiences as lenses to study the world provides a liberal arts background suitable to a range of careers and prepares students for graduate work in Judaic studies, religious studies, and related fields.
Incoming Undergraduate Students
Students who major in Judaic studies at University of Oregon become informed and engaged global citizens and build skills in writing and critical reasoning. Students engage with important texts and ideas and become proficient in textual analysis and library research including in biblical Hebrew language and literature. They also develop strong abilities in oral and written communication.
Current UO Undergraduate Students
Our classes in Judaic studies classes explore topics ranging from modern Hebrew to Jewish film and TV studies. Students selecting Judaic studies explore the world through the lens of Jewish culture and experiences. With 68 credits in the major and 28 credits in the minor, students take a comprehensive curriculum in the history, religion, and cultural traditions of the Jewish people.
