Explore existential questions about the human condition, consider the cultural significance of rituals, and discuss the meaning of life while analyzing how history, politics, socioeconomics, philosophy, and literature combine with religion to create different communities of believers.

Want to help make the world a better place? The Department of Religious Studies provides broad training for humanitarian professions. Recent graduates have gone on to study law, medicine, and journalism; to work in social service organizations; and to pursue graduate study in a variety of disciplines.

Graduate Programs

While the Department of Religious Studies does not offer a graduate degree, students can work with faculty members in religious studies and other departments to develop an MA or MS in Interdisciplinary Studies: Individualized Program.
