Samantha Stendal

“Looking back at my time as a Cinema Studies major, what I value most is how I was able to explore so many different aspects of filmmaking—from editing to cinematography, and beyond. I'm so thankful that I was able to try on different hats instead of just focusing on one specialty because it allowed me to apply a variety of those skills once I entered the workforce. When I worked in reality TV I leaned on my Avid editing and digital art skills. While working at Disney Animation I utilized my knowledge of cinematography and the filmmaking process. Although I didn't discover my love for production management until after college, looking back, I can see how I was honing my producing abilities while working on student films. The skills I learned in college have shaped my career in live-action, animation, and now video games. I'm grateful for my experience at UO because it was a time of self-discovery where I uncovered my passions and learned a ton along the way.”
