Diversity

REEES is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Our program strives to illuminate the complex ethnic, racial, religious, cultural, and linguistic diversity of a vast region, spanning from Eastern Europe to the Russian Far East. Gender, class, race, ethnicity, and religion are just some of the many topics addressed by our faculty in their teaching and research.

Located in the only US state where Russian is the third most commonly spoken language, REEES is involved in outreach to the local Russian-speaking community. In recent years, we have dedicated ourselves to the organization of lectures, workshops, and conferences that address diversity within Slavic studies with a particular emphasis on language, race, ethnicity, and LGTBQ issues.
