THEATRE ARTS - In a theater production class, Grigorii Malakhov discovered a new passion that has taken him to a world-renowned opera company in Santa Fe and is preparing him for a career after graduation. Plus, take a tour of the UO Costume Shop with junior Annika McNair as students prepare for their production of Antigone, which ran in the 2024 winter term.

CLASSICS, THEATRE ARTS - Directed by Tara Wibrew, the University Theatre’s production of Antigone opens March 1 and runs through March 17. The production is a product of College of Arts and Sciences students’ hands-on learning, applying concepts learned in classrooms to the stage in Robinson Theatre on the Eugene campus.

ENGLISH, SOCIOLOGY, SPANISH, THEATRE ARTS - The Distinguished Teaching Awards recognize exceptional teaching that is inclusive, engaged and research-informed. This year’s winners are Jocelyn Hollander, Faith Barter, Alex Zunterstein, Kirby Brown, Robin Hopkins, Tannaz Farsi, Patricia Rodley and Michael Moffitt.

THEATRE ARTS - An original musical play created by and starring Lane County and University of Oregon student disability communities. The play is 7:30 p.m. Saturday, June 10, and 2 p.m. Sunday, June 11, at the Hope Theatre. The event is free, first come first served.

THEATRE ARTS - On Thursday, May 25, around 450 UO students and recent graduates presenting their projects at the Undergraduate Research Symposium. The annual event showcases student research across all academic fields; 67 majors across all the UO’s schools and colleges will be represented.

THEATRE ARTS - The University Theater wraps up its 2022-23 season with Shakespeare's comedy classic 'Twelfth Night.' “The comic happenstances in ‘Twelfth Night’ seem to me married to why we need comedy in the first place,” said director John Schmor.

Board of Education Supreme Court ruling, the law had been largely ignored in Durham, North Carolina — until 1971, when a Black community activist and a Klansman were thrown together to find a solution. The stage is the setting for their epic confrontation in University Theatre’s upcoming production “The Best of Enemies.”

Learn about the history, symbolism and process of creating pysanka, one of the most recognizable folk art forms for celebrating Easter in Ukraine. Or take in one of the many programs in the music and dance departments at the School of Music and Dance.

February is Black History Month, and many special events are planned on campus. A variety of film screenings include titles such as “Black Orpheus,” “Talking Black in America,” James Blue’s award-winning film “The March,” and Duck After Dark’s screening of “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.”

THEATRE ARTS - “It’s about soccer; there’s plenty of soccer in the play,” said director Tricia Rodley, an instructor in the Department of Theatre Arts, “but it’s also about the conversations these young women have.”

THEATRE ARTS - Before “Stranger Things,” there was “She Kills Monsters,” a 2011 coming-of-age drama-comedy brimming with Mind Flayers and Bulettes, also known as landsharks, and an array of other monsters and heroes drawn from the popular role-play game Dungeons & Dragons.

THEATRE ARTS, GERMAN & SCANDINAVIAN - For the second time in University of Oregon history, a Duck has won the Gates-Cambridge Scholarship. Alex Mentzel, a 2020 graduate who majored in German literature and theatre arts, will be one of only 60 students nationally in the 2022 class of Gates-Cambridge Scholars.
