Regardless of your concentration, there is no better way to immerse yourself in the Classics discipline than by studying or interning abroad in the Greco-Roman world. Whether to hone your language skills, gain archeological field experience, or study the classics in their birthplace, studying abroad will provide a fulfilling and holistic experience.

The University of Oregon offers roughly 10 study abroad programs that can satisfy your Classics major or minor requirements. Many programs are currently offered in Greece and Italy. Alternatively, you can intern abroad through the GlobalWorks International Internship program in a variety of regions around the world.

“In the Summer of 2016, I got to travel all around Greece studying archaeology in the Bronze Age in Greece. I participated in a program through a study abroad school based in Athens called College Year in Athens. Our professor, Angelos Papadopolous, is an active archaeologist in Athens who specializes in the Bronze Age period. With him and our CYA faculty member, we explored different excavated sites in Athens, Aegina, Crete, Thera (Santorini), and Mycenae. It was an absolutely incredible experience that I would recommend to anyone.”
