CLASSICS – As a new tenure-track faculty member in the Department of Classics, Ximing Lu is prepared to contribute his expertise in both research and teaching, offering students new perspectives on ancient history intertwined with modern scholarship. He also has a lot to teach on the subject of travel hacking.
CLASSICS - After more than two decades of digging in the volcanic ash covering the ancient city, associate professor of classics Kevin Dicus in the College of Arts and Sciences plans to delve into a mound of dirt he hopes is covering Roman garbage so he can study how the residents used it. Between digs, Dicus teaches Latin, mythology, classical archaeology, Roman architecture and Pompeii in the University of Oregon Classics department.
CLASSICS, THEATRE ARTS - Directed by Tara Wibrew, the University Theatre’s production of Antigone opens March 1 and runs through March 17. The production is a product of College of Arts and Sciences students’ hands-on learning, applying concepts learned in classrooms to the stage in Robinson Theatre on the Eugene campus.
