Departmental Advising and Support

Need help planning your course of study, meeting academic requirements, or exploring career options? Students who are interested in declaring the philosophy major or the philosophy or ethics minor should contact our program advisors at the following times:

  • When first declaring your major or minor in philosophy.
  • At least once each year to discuss your academic interests, progress, and plans.
  • The spring before you begin your senior year (or at least three terms prior to your expected graduation) to avoid delays in graduating.

Meet Department Advisors

Contact the director of undergraduate studies if you:

  • Are a new major or minor.
  • Need to transfer credits from another institution or study abroad.
  • Wish to petition for an exception.
  • Need advice on applying to graduate school.

Contact the ethics minor director if you are interested in adding the ethics minor.

Contact the pre-law advisor if you are interested in combining philosophy with pre-law study.
