University Theatre

University Theatre auditions and backstage opportunities are open to all UO students. Our department issues a weekly email letting interested students know about upcoming opportunities. We welcome all students who have an interest in participating and we’ll work hard to find a place for you!

If you are interested in construction, design, or technology, we recommend taking an introductory course with lab hours to study with our design faculty and gain experience in our shops and production systems. You can also volunteer for production lab hours. To be hired as a student worker in one of our shops, you must be eligible for work-study through financial aid.

Occasionally we tour one of our University Theatre productions to rural Oregon schools, performing sometimes for younger students who might be seeing theatre for the first time! University students involved in a tour are paid, provided transport and lodging, and given a daily meal per diem.
