University Theatre

University Theatre is the production component of the Department of Theatre Arts. Each academic year, we produce a season of plays in the Robinson Theatre (capacity 300) and Hope Theatre (capacity is flexible from 120 to 140).

University Theatre auditions and backstage opportunities are open to all UO students! The best way to stay informed is our TA Undergrad group email, which is sent out every week (Fall, Winter, Spring). Majors and minors are automatically added to this email list, but you can request to add your individual email as well.

We also recommend taking introductory courses to study with related faculty and gain or refresh experience that supports our production expectations:

  • If you are interested in acting, we recommend TA 250, 251, 252.
  • If you are interested in construction, design, or theatre technology, we recommend TA 210, 211, 212 with lab hours that introduce you to the costume and scene shops as well as production processes. After taking these classes, you may earn UO credits or volunteer for production lab hours. To be hired as a student worker in costume or scene shops, you must be eligible for work-study through financial aid.
