Student Groups

For theatre arts students who want to practice their performance skills or learn more about the technical aspects of production, the University of Oregon offers a wealth of opportunities—many of them led by students. Gain hands-on experience, enhance your resume and work portfolio, and begin building a network of like-minded peers by joining one of the groups below.

Pocket Playhouse

The Pocket Playhouse is a student-run organization that helps students craft their artistic visions on the stage. Each quarter, the Pocket produces up to five shows, completely under the direction and operation of students. Many productions are original, some are new renderings of old classics, and some are obscure offerings seldom seen on stage, but they all come from the vision of directors, actors, and designers just like you!

Students can work on shows, organized to support student work in our Pocket Theatre, almost every week. New works, familiar works, improv, and parodies—as well as open mic nights and other events—keep the Pocket Playhouse very busy. Any UO student can participate in performing, designing, writing, directing, or serving on the student board that coordinates and promotes Pocket productions.

Duck TV

Duck TV is the UO’s premiere student-run TV channel and production team. Based in the School of Journalism and Communication, Duck TV offers practical opportunities to write, direct, act, and learn camera/editing skills, often involving theatre arts majors. Students involved with Duck TV are also regularly participating in independent film projects across campus.
