If you would like to talk through major or minor requirements, or have other advising questions, you can additionally make an appointment with a Tykeson College and Career advisor. Please see the CAS Advising website for information on how to make an appointment, appointment options (virtual and in-person, drop-in and scheduled appointments) and their advising hours.

Tykeson academic and career advisors will help you clarify your interests, meet academic requirements, discuss career possibilities with Career Readiness Coaches, and put you in touch with the many resources available to help you succeed.

The Tykeson College and Career Advising team can also help with introductory advising on majors/minors in Romance languages, help you integrate activities to help with career preparation, answer your questions about core education and university policies and procedures, and connect you with other resources for student success.

SHL Advising

Spring 2023 Advising and Placement Hours

Appointments are available in-person, on Microsoft Teams or on Zoom.

  • Mondays 9-11 a.m.: Drop-in advising in 213 Friendly Hall
  • Tuesdays 2-3 p.m. & Thursdays 10-11 a.m.: By appointment

If we are unable to get in touch with you through Teams, we will call you at the phone number you provided.   • Find your assigned advisor in the Navigate Student app (go to Resources > People).
  • Find your assigned advisor in the Navigate site (Your Success Team box).

What assistance can my assigned RL advisor provide me?

Please contact your assigned RL advisor for assistance with course selection, schedule planning, prerequisites, RL degree questions, integrating study abroad with your major or minor, making sure you are on track to graduate, graduate school preparation and any other questions related to your major or minor within the Department of Romance Languages.

What types of questions can the Tykeson College and Career Advising team answer?

Alternatively, the advisors in Tykeson can also answer quick questions, assist in course selection/schedule planning, cover basic study abroad possibilities, prerequisites and RL degree requirements; as well as general UO requirements.

The undergraduate advising team in Tykeson works closely with the Department of Romance Languages to ensure students have a clear understanding of major and minor requirements.

Students can declare a major or minor in the Department of Romance Languages by submitting a self-declaration form.
